Earwolf Makes Major Announcements!

After months of hard work and planning, we are proud to launch a completely redesigned Earwolf website. Along with the new website’s improved design there are added functions, new shows, improved apps and more.

New Shows:

Episodes of The Apple Sisters will be released each Monday, and are based on the popular live show of the same name. Candy, Cora, and Seedy Apple are singers, actresses, and raconteurs straight out of 1943. While the technology is still a bit foreign to them, they’re pleased as punch to plunge into podcasting.

Episodes of Affirmation Nation with Bob Ducca will be released every Monday through Friday, unless he can’t get a ride to the studio or one of his many health conditions flare up. As the official ex-stepfather of Earwolf, Bob has grown to love our listeners (and our listeners have grown to pity him). He hopes to give back to the Earwolf community with his daily meditations, poems, and ramblings.

New Website Features:

There is a section of Earwolf called Yourcast where we invite fellow podcasters to purchase directory listings. This way you can help support Earwolf while bringing attention to your own show.

We are very proud of our new On Tour feature. Simply enter your zip code and the number of miles you are willing to travel and we can show you where Earwolf hosts and guests will be performing near you.

New Apps:

The On Tour feature has a corresponding iPhone app (note: Currently pending iTunes App Store approval). Like the website feature, the app will allow you to view maps of different comedy venues, purchase tickets, and get more information on the show.

We finally have our very first Android app. This app will allow Android users to access Earwolf feeds through Google Listen and hear any of our shows on the go.

New T-Shirts:

We also have two new t-shirts! The first is for How Did This Get Made listeners and shows off one of our favorite discussion topics: Ridiculous Cage. The second is a simple epitaph that all our listeners should know by heart: The Wolf Dead.

  1. I’m not a big fan of the redesign.

so much junk all over the place, a myriad of confusing categories of information…

Why do people do this? Is the impulse to turn web design into art so powerful that they fail to realize that the purpose is to facilitate the navigation of content? the reason you see so many websites with “boring” layouts is because it makes it more accessible to readers.

literally you could have given some 15-year-old computer geek 20 bucks and he would have farted out some by-the-numbers layout that would have been easier to navigate than this.

  2. Holy Shit! The site looks awesome guys and gals! (Having a few Internal Server Errors though but I know it’ll get fixed.) The new podcast sound like I’ll love them! I’m so jazzed that I think $50 from my next paycheck is getting donated!!!

  3. If you are having trouble navigating this new site, you are an idiot. It is a more streamlined version of the old site, and a fairly simple design at that. I bet a lot of people could come to the site and not notice it had really changed, it is still just a pretty standard web design, but one that works better and is a little more elegant.

A “myriad of confusing categories”? There are like 6. Chill out. It looks great, but I am far more focused on the two new shows and the Yourcast listing service. More content, more services better site, what’s not to like?

Great job Jeff and everyone else.

    The Wolf Will Never Die.
(that is a reclaiming of my college St. Joseph’s University’s signature chant “the hawk will never die” that we sadly have to chant every year as we get our asses handed to us but pretend we are still good because we got to the Elite 8 one year…sorry I’ve veered into Sklar territory.)

  4. Everyone Shut the Fuck Up! its free…………..so far

  5. Everything looks great. Congrats on the redesign! Can’t wait to check out the new shows.

  6. This is one hell of a re-design… It’s so much, I’m gonna puke…

  7. I like it, but I am getting tons of “internal server error” messages. I assume this will be worked out.

  8. What?! WHAT?! WHAT IS THIS!? HOW DO I EVEN… UNGH!!! THANK GOODNESS THE COMMENTS SECTION IS EASY TO FIND! VITRIOL, ENGAAAAAAAAAGE! -Anxious

  9. My world is complete now with a daily dose of Ducca. And the site update is great! Praise Earwolf.

  10. Whooza, so much info. Two live links, three merch links, three blog links, four donate links….

  11. Congrats on the further developing Earwolf empire. New site is looking pretty nice, and not a big departure from the old design in terms of color/style, which is nice for some consistency.

I’ll offer my two bits of constructive criticism as a designer:
First, I’m getting a LOT slower load times than with the old site. You might look into a new webhost or dedicated server (If you’re on shared hosting), or trying to slim down the CMS somehow. Secondly, I’m finding the dropdown menu items in the main nav really hard to read. Something about the translucent yellow and the thin weighted gray type, and especially when you hover and it becomes white on yellow. I’d either make the type a heavier weight, and change the hover colors (maybe invert to yellow on gray), or make the whole dropdown a dark gray/near-black with white text and yellow hover text (like the rest of the menu but a shade darker background); I think the translucence will be more readable on a dark background.

Lastly, more of a personal taste thing than a functionality one: It still looks a little flat, or plain. You probably want a simple clean look, but a few subtle touches around the edges like slight gradients, or small illustrations could give it a bit more character.

Still great overall, and keep up the good work!

  12. Follow-up to already too-long post: I sort of retract the bit about slow load times. The lags are intermittent not constant, but still worth looking into. It will probably only get worse as traffic increases…

Also just noticed the new Forums. Sweet. Everyone go sign up and start posting if you haven’t already!

  13. Great stuff as always, Earwolf team. I kind of like Pete’s idea about the gradients and flourishes*, although I hadn’t been able to put my finger on it he does sort of bring up a slight meh-ness of the site. That being said, it is awesome and I love what you’ve done with the place.

Affirmation Nation has to be the most awesome new podcast ever, which is saying a lot considering my love for the unexpectedly bad-ass “Who Charted?!” Can my dream of a Li’l Gary podcast be that far off?**

Keep up the great work, all of you!

    * I’m not sure if he meant it this way, but Pete’s suggestion makes me think you need Sergio Aragones on staff to do some margin work.

** Farther than you think, pal.

  14. Why do you hate donations?

I tried to donate $8,675,800.23 and was rejected because the amount was invalid.
