EP. 457 — 457: 19th Amendment, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and the Belarus Election, Anti-gay Polish Policies

This week, Bryan and Erin celebrate 100 years of the Nineteenth Amendment! In honor of the anniversary, Erin shines a light on the forgotten voices of color in the women’s suffrage movement. Then, Erin profiles Belarusian political contender Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who ran in her husband’s place in the defrauded election that kept Lukashenko in power and later prompted countrywide protests. Plus, Bryan takes another look at Polish president Andrzej Duda’s intensely homophobic regime and what steps can be taken to right the wrongs of the Polish government’s anti-gay agenda.
