Steve Szlaga

Steve Szlaga is a proud native of Detroit. He received a BA in Television from Columbia College Chicago, and would have gotten a minor in Acting if he hadn’t dropped Body Movement II. In 2007, he moved to LA where he studied improv, sketch, and the art of unceremoniously quitting jobs he didn’t like. Steve has been performing at UCB since 2008. Credits include Maude Night, Harold Night, and Quick & Funny Musicals. He is an alumni of the Groundlings Sunday Company and performed in the 2018 CBS Diversity Showcase. Steve makes up half of the two-man sketch group Medium Friends, and you can watch their videos at mediumfriends.com When he isn’t trying desperately to make you laugh, he is a writing mentor for Young Storytellers.

Guest Appearances

June 27, 2018

Paul F. Tompkins is proud of his listeners on today’s Spontaneanation! This time out, Paul’s special guest is stand-up comedian Caitlin Gill! Caitlin chats about what style concept she’s always wanted to try, living in the basement of Bobcat Goldthwait, and her experience under the influence of mushrooms. Then, they are joined by improvisers Tony Rodriguez, Joan Ford, and Steve Szlaga, to improvise a story set in A Craft Fair. And as always, Eban (only the best) Schletter scores it all on piano!
