This week, the Sklars welcome Richard Fulcher and guest host David Huntsberger. Together, they discuss the art of developing a stand up routine and knowing when to stick to it and when to go off the cuff. Then, David covers headlines that include the marriage of alcohol and firearms, a ninja that is beaten by an unsuspected second ninja, and a son that just can’t say goodbye to his father. The Mighty Boosh’s Rich Fulcher is back to kick things off on the first Sklarbro County of the new year! He chats about holiday pie eating, the first words spoken by his 18-month-old baby, and the fantastic sketch show “Snuff Box” he did with Matt Berry. Daniel Van Kirk is also here to bring us the first stories of 2014 which include an angry Dayton, Ohio wife who torches her husband’s truck due to her hatred of her Christmas gifts, a South Carolina wife who stabs her “beerless” husband with a ceramic squirrel, and an Oklahoma man who proposed to his girlfriend while an officer was trying to arrest him. Then, we get some closure for this football season from our good friend Doug Buffone. Make sure to check out the archives of Daniel Van Kirk’s NFL column over at cover32.com and don’t forget to get your tickets for the Sklar Bros one-hour special tapings at the Majestic Theatre in Madison, WI. People of Los Angeles, you can now get tickets to see Sklarbro Country LIVE with special guest Brendon Small on Thursday, January 9th at The Smell as part of the RIOT LA festival! If Vitali Klitschko thinks he can be the President of Ukraine, I believe we should nominate Maria Bamford for President of Sklarbro Country. She will rule the country with a sober fist, she will reform the laws regarding Monopoly, she’s both a diplomat AND a cheerleader, and she’s not afraid to ask for coaching when she needs it. Do all you BamFans agree? She’d make Sklarbro Country a welcome place where Bruce Jenner could come to forget about Kim’s failed marriage and Cristiano Ronaldo could reset his email settings. Bamford 2012!

Folks, I don’t even know where to start on this one. We’ve got a doozy on our hands. You know you’re in for a treat when step-family sword fights, scrabble theft, and offensive puns are our biggest news stories. Joe Lo Truglio from The State talks to us about his leap from high school swimmer to college sketch comic and how important fantasy football is to him. Jesse Thorn must have been eavesdropping on the fantasy conversation because he closes up the show with what is perhaps the cutest and most cuddly fantasy report yet. Don’t miss the first of hopefully many installments of Sklarington Manor, our sister podcast from across the pond courtesy of our friends from Snuff Box. This episode gets a Henderson! Osbaldiston! Folks! AND a Zoom!
