It’s time once more for improv4humans! Our human guests this week are the always funny Chad Carter, the ultra talented Joe Wengert, and the definitely-not-an-alien Charlie Sanders. Looking for something to do this Thanksgiving? Drew, Molly, and J.P. have some ideas! You could watch the parade, as corporate and mainstream as that is. You could meet up with some of your old friends from junior high, but that could get depressing fast. What about a good mushroom trip with retirees? That sounded much better in my head. Well, if you want to avoid awful TSA agents and awkward family encounters, just hang out at home and listen to Glitter in the Garbage!

Some people let the stigma of psychiatry prevent them from seeking help and finding solace. Maybe, just maybe, one of you will take part in some “rhyme therapy” and find that not only is it fun, but it’s spiritually freeing. Happy Thanksgiving, listeners. As always if one of you would like to invite good ol’ Bob to your family’s celebration, email AffirmationNation@earwolf.com

We all know which holiday we’re celebrating on Thursday, but do we know WHY we’re supposed to celebrate it and HOW to give thanks? This week on Professor Blastoff we give you the ultimate pre-Turkey appetizer of historical knowledge and thoughtful discourse on the neurological behavior involved in gratitude. Pass the gravy!

Last week we had our first How Did This Get Made? LIVE! at Largo and we’re going to share it with you! But first, we’re giving you a week to watch the movie and prepare yourself for the insanity of Superman III. See you next week!

At the intersection of comedy, music, and fashion lies this week’s Comedy Bang Bang. Margaret Cho and Grant-Lee Phillips provide the score for the episode in addition to delighting us with tales of the 90s and fun rounds of What Am I Thinking? and Would You Rather?! David Wain is the comedy legend you’d expect him to be, but by the end of the episode you’ll be in awe of his keyboard skills. Dov Charney came here to talk about American Apparel and he does. That part is pretty straightforward. But throw it all together and you have a podcast stew to whet your pre-Thanksgiving appetite. Speaking of stew, head over to the Earwolf store and pick up The Complete Comedy Bang Bang Christmas Collection. All proceeds go to the LA Regional Food Bank.

He’s finally here! Franklin Delano Roosevelt himself has returned to The Apple Sisters radio show and is ready for a delicious meal, beautiful songs, and a sexy turkey. You can’t not love “Weird Al” Yankovic. We are lifelong fans and were more than happy to stamp his passport in Sklarbro Country. From his very first Jim Croce parody to his reception on Twitter, we loved learning about his three-decade-long reign as the King of Parody. Keeping in the theme of childhood heroes, we’ve invited Jesse Ventura to take a quick detour from his route to Mexico to hang out with us. Add live music from Jim Bianco, some Nickelback news, and the oddest stroke story we’ve ever heard, and you’ll have an hour-and-a-half long vacation to amaze your friends with pictures from.

Threesomes, aliens, The Duggar Family, Oprah, this episode has everything! Seth Morris left his buddy Bob Ducca to come hang out with us and he so totally brought it! From dating in LA to trashy TV, we fly through the hour! Enjoy!

How Did This Get Made? has been on a roll lately. They’ve had guests like Lexi Alexander, director of Punisher: War Zone, Greg Sestero from The Room, and just performed a live show at Largo with Damon Lindelof and Superman’s Jack O’Halloran. As we approach the one year anniversary of HDTGM? we have Paul Scheer on the show to talk about his podcast, Eardrop, and how he balances a busy career in television and film and an active online presence. Please do check out Eardrop and tell us what you think in the forum!

Let us all give thanks for another episode of Glitter in the Garbage! For trashy Christian rockers and people who are terrible at their jobs. For sad loners joining together during the holidays. For handbags. Mostly for handbags. I’m thankful for Drew, Tom, Chase, and George, and I’m thankful that Jenna Elfman doesn’t listen to this podcast!

DJ Robbi Scrab in the house! What what?!?! You might know him as Rob Schrab, the powerhouse behind Scud: The Disposable Assassin, Channel 101, and The Sarah Silverman Program, but this week you’ll get to know him as a prison fearing, swear word moderating, quiz playing master of the charts. The Billboard Heatseekers chart brings about another round of the LMFAO quiz, and I think you’ll be happy to know that the Movie Chart also features a familiar quiz. Top the whole thing off with a visit from Hermes the Chart Goose and you’ve got yourself a podcast to remember! Remember, it’s not too late to pick up Who Charted? LIVE from Seattle with special guest Sir Mix-A-Lot!

We’re very fortunate to have two experts this week joining us to discuss The Room. First off we have Steve Heisler from The AV Club who has made it his journalistic duty to learn everything he can about this disaster. Also joining us is Mark (Oh, hi Mark!), aka Greg Sestero who also worked behind-the-scenes as a producer. Tuxedo football, outdoor green screens, unnecessary double casting, Mark knows how it all came to be and he’s here to share it all with us. Enjoy!

Whether or not you believe in God, you’d better believe that we have a brand new Professor Blastoff for you! And even if you don’t think Jesus was the son of God, you can know for sure that Marty Yu is our guest this week! Learn the difference between agnosticism and atheism, why critical thinking matters, and how morality impacts our society regardless of your own theological state.

November 14, 2011

It’s sure been a while since Jason Mantzoukas popped in for an episode of Comedy Bang Bang. And I don’t know about you, but I could really use a good interruption from a total stranger! We get the best of both worlds this week as Scott and Jason are joined by Chip Gardner, former television personality and (hopefully) future Honorary Mayor of Hollywood. Enjoy, and if Chip’s spiritual wellness inspires you to give, consider buying The Complete Comedy Bang Bang Christmas Collection. All proceeds go to the LA Regional Food Bank.

I think we’ve all gone through the sorrow of losing a loved one too soon. Even worse is the pain of the passing of a furry friend. Please take this time to think of your own late companions and pet your living friends extra hard. Thanks Bill!

Thirsty from an exhausting Scrabble tournament? Back a little sore from a rough encounter at Shea? Eagerly anticipating the new Magic Johnson musical? Drink up, stretch out, and calm down because Will Forte awaits you on the calming shores of Sklarbro Country. His Saturday Night Live resume is hilarious, his athlete run-ins are captivating, and his Raiders fandom is inspiring. Less inspiring but equally intriguing is Owen Wilson who makes his long awaited return to clue us in on his NBA lockout plans. This is a great episode so don’t pull a Dykstra and miss it!

November 11, 2011

We’ve got celebrity on the brain this week on Totally Laime! Maybe it’s because our guest is Keith Powell from the coolest show on television, 30 Rock! Keith tells us about his run-ins with Sidney Poitier and Meryl Streep, his recent baller car purchase, and the tricky world of dealing with fans. Keith doesn’t disappoint as he kills it at The Oprah Game and Lame or Totally Rapid Fire! We had a blast, so we hope you enjoy!

Okay, it’s quiz time: Who has made it big on Parks and Recreation, written movie scripts for major studios, won an Emmy for writing the Oscars, and had a starring role in a movie? That’s right, the answer is Ben Schwartz who joins us this week for a detailed discussion of UK iTunes Singles and a tricky game of Chart Roulette. This is a guy who can kill at Howard’s quizzes, offer up legitimate showbiz knowledge in the Movie Chart, and summon his very own dolphin when the roulette wheel started acting up! Get to know the un-douchy, Lego-loving, gypsy-seducing side of Jean Ralphio this week on Who Charted?! Be sure to visit the Earwolf store to pick up a copy of Who Charted?
